IRMT 2020 Annual Conference

In 2020, Institute of Registered Music Teachers of New Zealand (IRMTNZ) will host Bridging Cultures: Beethoven 250 and Beyond from 16-19 January 2020 at King's College in Otahuhu, Auckland. IRMTNZ holds annual national conferences which provide outstanding professional advice, collegial support and inspiration.

Cello for Africa

Cello for Africa, directed by Sinfonia for Hope, brings together musicians from Africa and New Zealand in a concert to raise funds for the Tamariki Education Centre, a primary school in the slums of Nairobi, founded by New Zealander, Denise Carnihan.

Celebrate 400

400 years ago – before the birth of Bach, Vivaldi, or Handel – the renowned instrument-maker Nicolò Amati crafted an exquisite viola in his Italian workshop. Is this marvellous Amati viola now the oldest string instrument in New Zealand? We believe so!

Kristallnacht Commemorative Concert

Kristallnacht concert commemorates the night of broken glass – when Jewish synagogues, shops, and homes were attacked and destroyed in Germany 1938. This year, for the first time, the Kristallnacht commemorative concert will take place in the beautiful Beth El Synagogue.
