About the event
Program
Beethoven String Quartet No. 15 in A, Op. 132
Beethoven String Quartet No. 14 in C sharp, op. 131
Deafness, isolation, suspicion, deteriorating health and difficult family relationships characterized Ludwig van Beethoven's last years. His compositions from this period took on an increasingly meditative character. Beethoven used a more abstract musical language for his last quartets, literally bursting at the seams of the classical tradition. In the processing of the motifs, the composer went to the most extreme extremes. During this NSvK concert we listen to two of the late string quartets, the fourteenth and fifteenth – absolute highlights from the entire string quartet repertoire!
