The Mulled Wine Concerts is into its fifteenth season of concerts. The concerts are very varied - we have hosted musicians from Holland to Christchurch and Dunedin, Moscow to Australia and all over New Zealand. The organiser, Mary Gow is not afraid to take chances on newly formed groups with highly trained musicians at the top of their profession. Some of the groups have been the Hutt City Brass Band, pianists John Chen, Diedre Irons, Nikolai Saratovsky, Michael Houstoun, Mary Gow, Sarah Watkins, Jian Liu among others, Andrew London Trio, a trombone, harp and soprano trio, the NZTrio, Category Five- a new Reed Ensemble, Diedre Irons and the Zephyr Winds.
Each year, starting on the last weekend of January with a Jazz style concert the season begins. (Past performers at this concert have been Rodger Fox Jazz Ensemble with guests Erna Ferry and NZ icon Ray Woolf, Andrew London trio, Hot Club Sandwich, Dutch pianist Robertus Scharrenborg and well known New Zealander Roger Tibbs).
The entry prices are very reasonable: $30 for adults and $15 for students under 16.
