The New Zealand String Quartet (NZSQ) presents an annual season of world-class performance and education events nationally and internationally. This is an exciting chance to join our energetic team and make a strong contribution to Aotearoa’s classical music landscape as the Quartet continues its work of evolution to make chamber music relevant to modern Aotearoa audiences.
The New Zealand String Quartet Trust is seeking a General Manager/Kaiwhakahaere Matua with previous relevant experience in the arts. As a key leadership role you’ll work closely with the Board of Trustees, musicians, administrative staff, stakeholders and sponsors to develop and implement the charitable NZSQ Trust’s strategy and business plans.
With your proven capability in arts management, you’ll ensure the seamless presentation of concerts, tours, and a broad range of creative and collaborative projects while working closely with the musicians.
You’ll have a deep understanding of promotion and engagement, and will be able to develop partnerships and positively represent the NZSQ. Your excellent communication skills will ensure the NZSQ’s performances continue to reach and resonate with audiences of all kinds.
Your outstanding relationship skills will strengthen our fundraising and income-producing activities through building individual, corporate, and government support, and enable you to lead new initiatives for partnership and audience development. You will also be supported by our small, friendly team in our Wellington office.
You will bring:
Dynamic leadership with a high level of energy and versatility
A passion for the arts and dedication to high artistic standards
Experience in event planning
Ideally five or more years’ experience in arts management, ideally with a professional touring ensemble
Demonstrated success working with a Board in an arts organisation
Proven track record in fundraising
Experience in budgeting and fiscal management
