NZSQ Trust Announces New General Manager

The NZSQ Trust are delighted to announce the appointment of Aislinn Ryan as General Manager.

Wellington born and bred, Aislinn will join the NZSQ Trust from the UK, bringing a breadth of experience across artistic, project and education management with multiple internationally acclaimed arts organisations – Askonas Holt Ltd, English Touring Opera, International Teaching Collaborative (ITAC) and most recently as General Manager of Ériu Dance Company (Ireland). Aislinn takes over the role from Marcus Norman who led the organisation though a period of significant evolution.

Previously a principal dancer with Riverdance, Aislinn’s portfolio of work in the UK and Ireland encompassed artist and talent development, tour management, and cross sector partnership work. Aislinn says,

“I’m excited to be joining the iconic NZSQ, an ensemble that celebrates and reflects the diversity of Aotearoa New Zealand and epitomises the breadth of possibilities of chamber music. After a long stint overseas, it is wonderful to be back in my hometown of Wellington - a city that afforded me so many wonderful cultural opportunities as a youngster and continues to have such a compelling creative energy. I can’t wait to get started with the quartet to continue to provide engaging music experiences for all New Zealanders.”

Jeremy Johnson, Chair of the NZSQ Trust adds,

“We are delighted that someone of Aislinn’s calibre will be leading the New Zealand cultural icon that is the NZSQ. Aislinn’s depth of experience in arts management places her perfectly to spearhead the NZSQ’s refreshed strategic plan and next chapter. The NZSQ Board of Trustees would like to thank Marcus for the tremendous contributions he has made during his tenure, and the dynamic strategic vision he has developed for the future of the NZSQ Trust, ensuring we can connect with audiences and communities across New Zealand for generations to come.”

Aislinn joins the NZSQ Trust at an exciting time as the organisation looks to evolve its role as Aotearoa New Zealand’s Quartet through new partnerships with Orchestras Central and Sistema Aotearoa, and a diverse range of exciting new artistic endeavours for our 2023 and 2024 seasons.

The NZSQ Trust looks forward to welcoming Aislinn to the team in late September 2022.
