The NZSQ Trust are delighted to announce the appointment of Marcus Norman as General Manager. Marcus will join us after eight years in the UK, bringing a breadth of experience across artistic and education management with two internationally recognised arts organisations - Southbank Sinfonia (London) and Opera North (Leeds).
Marcus’s portfolio of work in the UK encompassed artist and talent development, cross-genre artistic project management, and advocacy for inclusive and accessible music education for young people.
Marcus says:
“I’m thrilled to be returning to Wellington to join the NZSQ family, an ensemble I have long admired for their dynamism on stage and commitment to championing New Zealand music and nurturing new generations of music-makers. I’m excited to bring home my experience from the UK, and to celebrate our incredible artists, our loyal friends and supporters, and passionate audiences we have here in New Zealand.”
Jeremy Johnson, Chair of the NZSQ Trust adds:
"We are delighted that someone of the calibre of Marcus will be leading the New Zealand cultural icon that is the NZSQ. The NZSQ Trust board is very confident that Marcus will make significant progress in our strategic priorities of embracing digital content, engaging with the education of younger audiences and ensuring the NZSQ is New Zealand’s Quartet.”
Marcus joins the NZSQ Trust at an exciting time as we look to expand our digital content offering for our supporters and audiences; and fresh off our critically acclaimed CMNZ national tour of Transfigured Night with Ballet Collective Aotearoa and choreographer, Loughlan Prior.
The NZSQ Trust looks forward to welcoming Marcus to the team in May 2021.
